Polar Vortex talk on TV

I'm a bit bothered by TV meteorologists referring to the reason for the cold weather is a polar vortex. In the movie Day after Tomorrow, there was a series of cold weather events and that caused a lot of ice. But I don't really think that we're at risk of another mini-ice age, or anything, it probably has something to do with ocean currents and the jet stream changing.
The good thing is that Al Gore did not anticipate this dip in the temperatures, in his power point presentation on Global Warming. |
