Re: Mobile, Alabama expecting 6+ inches of snow possible

Here on Pensacola Beach we're basically marooned.   We had an extended period of very heavy sleet and freezing rain overnight (still an occasional spit of icy stuff hitting the window), and there was even some snow not that far north of us. All bridges to and from Santa Rosa Island are closed due to icy conditions, and the roads aren't much better anywhere in the area.  Interstate 10 mid-county is a ghost town.

Needless to say, even if we could get down our icy outside stairs, we're not leaving our abode today, and just feel fortunate to still have power -- though we're now under a wind advisory, so who knows how long the power lines will hold up?   Fingers and toes crossed, not only for Gulf Power but for our poor overworked home heat pump system..

We're currently cloudy and in the mid-20's, and there's little if any melting expected today, except for a very short window in mid-afternoon when the sun MIGHT come out and the temps MIGHT reach mid-30's -- followed by a precipitous drop back toward 20 degrees overnight, with a hard freeze warning in effect.  So anything that melts will simply re-freeze.  We may not get anywhere tomorrow, either.

As Chris has already demonstrated, Florida is not Florida is not Florida.

And  yet, they're talking about temps rebounding to 70 degrees by Super Bowl Sunday.   It's nuts.
