I had no idea that it was requirement in some areas. I guess if you live on a corner, twice as much sidewalk. I can't imagine shoveling snow by hand. It would be annoying when the plow dumps it back in your driveway. I guess if you clear it, leave for work, and then come later after the plow has been through again, you might have to dig your way in. (I do know that in at least some places you can't leave your car on the street, or maybe at least one side of the street)

Being a postman would not be fun in the north. Window always open to deliver mail. A nightmare for packages. (I guess you would have to have your walk clear if you wanted them to get to your door, or maybe they would just be allowed to have you pick it up from the nearest post office if you didn't have your walk clear.)

I can see where snow would be a nightmare after awhile.
