When I first saw the pictures I thought it was simply the tide higher due to an approaching front and someone forgetting to take in the beach chairs. It wasn't until I had seen the video that I saw that it came in fast.
Fronts make the tide higher in Tampa Bay all the time, but it is only a foot or a little more perhaps and it comes up slowly.
From past ones mentioned in Cypress' link, they seem to be a bit less rare than I thought. I also didn't realize they could be so large. |
