TD Forming (Western Gulf)

A low pressure area located about 100 miles east of Corpus Christi, is showing signs of organization. Although the apparent center is void of convection do to vertical shear, the low level cumulus streak pattern clearly shows a well developed circulation. In addition, several off shore Obs indicate winds from the NE across the northern portion and SW across the southern portion of the circulation/low.

The low has a large convective area just to the NE of where the center is located, this is being sheared away from the center. Although mid levels are quite dry south of the system, the vorticity is moderate and well establish 850-700mb. Finally, water vapor and upper air data showed a well developed upper high just SW of the low, with hints of drifting over the system. If this occurs a TD or possibly a tropical storm may form before it moves inland in near or just south of Corpus Christi.

Note: Hunter aircraft likely to find a well defined circulation...
