On the other hand, disproportionate affects from one basin to the next are not necessarily unusual. Just as heating of Pacific water in an El Nino year yields more activity in that basin while also lessening activity in the Atlantic, I wonder if the ramifications of climate change differ from one part of the world to another? We already know that climate change brings drought in some regions while bringing historic precipitation to others. So, maybe it also impacts one tropical basin differently than another for reasons we do not yet entirely understand. I won't be all that surprised if further research someday bears that out.
