Re: Fascinating 2007 study looks more and more likely to be correct

Have to say I'm delighted that this thread has generated so much deep and fascinating thought.  Though posted in past years, it's the first time I've seen this.   Thanks to everyone for your valued input!  And yes, the bottom line is we may not have answers anytime soon (if ever in our lifetime).

I do agree with Gianmarc that the differences basin-to-basin could simply be one indicator of the entire instability (or, at least, instability in our long-held norms) created by climate change.  Droughts vs. floods, blistering heat vs. freezing winters in new places -- it's all seemingly a part of the major mess that climate change is producing in our world.

In other words, I guess nothing should surprise us any more, including the possibility -- just saying -- that hurricanes may be fewer and less intense, rather than the opposite we expected --  or maybe that it's true for our basin now, and will be for the Pacific at some future point.   It all boggles this poor mind, and I'm heading off to bed to rest my brain.   As an island resident, though, I have to always and forever keep in mind that it only takes one.      Goodnight all,   BL
