They really do have nice loops on the dry air. If anything wants to break out of the ITCZ, you've got an as of yet uninterrupted supply of dry air stretching across the basin.

Also, recon is now mentioned in the Plan of the Day. There are some research missions planned by NOAA. I don't know if they will proceed if actual fixes turn out to not be required on Danny. (although as long as Danny continues and is threatening land, they will do fixes.) Two NOAA aircraft leave Thursday for Barbados, including the G-IV which samples the environment around the storm. The GFS might stop getting whiplash from run to run when it gets some of that data. (although by then things might be more clear anyway, even without recon data)
