In general I have a plan, but for this specific storm I haven't done anything or made any plans.

In general, I live in a neighborhood where elevated tide and heavy rain can keep you from leaving, so it doesn't take much of any storm to need to evacuate. (I live 8 to 9 feet above sea level and about 4 feet seems to flood the entrance to my neighborhood, or less with heavy rain) I would go nearby in a parking garage, above the surge. We have some really big garages at the airport. But there are some more as well if they were closed. At a certain point though, I would just leave if it was expected to be bad or there was some potential it could be worse than expected. One or two, possibly stay. Any increased potential for something to surprise, like Charley for example, I might leave even if it were a one or two. Anything higher in category and I would probably leave. (But, not tied to the wind scale of course, it depends on the specific storm; surge, storm size, wind speed, duration of it) I would pack the car with my computer and backup drives, photos in albums, various mementos, some important documents (although most are in plastic bags in a safe deposit box at the bank) and pack some clothes. That would be about it if I left. (We do have boards to put up but I don't know if we would do that or not.) Food and drinks and other emergency supplies if I stuck around nearby.

Staying at home for a storm would not be an option though. I just would not risk not being able to leave. (although I could always run to the parking garage 1 mile away, but I'm going to plan ahead a little better than that
)
