Yep, I hear that one a lot. The uncertainty is reflected in the cone... for five years of average error, not for the specific storm. Sometimes I hear about uncertainty being reflected in the cone, just that, but for most people they don't understand that it is not for this specific storm.
I nit pick a lot when hearing some of the meteorologists on the TV. I'll say to the TV, no, you meant to say...
Another thing I often hear is about how the forward speed is not factored into the stated intensity. It is. I have heard really good meteorologists make that mistake. |
