A funny thing happened this morning with Kilo

Something interesting happened this morning. Kilo was supposed to move west of the International Date Line. When that happens the CPHC (http://www.prh.noaa.gov/cphc/) turns advisories over to Japan. (http://www.jma.go.jp/en/typh/)

In anticipation of the crossing, the CPHC had their last advisory on Kilo at 11pm EDT last night. (5pm HST) But rather than moving NNW across the IDL (180 degrees), the storm moved NNE for a bit.

So what happened? CPHC didn't take back over. Japan gives the coordinates at 180E exactly for the 2am EDT position, even though it is not:

http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/TROP/floaters/03C/03C_floater.html

JTWC has it at 179.6W for 2am EDT position:

Maybe it's just me, but I find that hilarious.
