Maybe that was the area the Euro was possibly developing awhile back.

Taking a look at the GFS and Euro now, it's either that high chance of development, through 5 days, that the NHC is watching or one later on behind it, both curving off into the Atlantic. Nothing closer to home for those two models right now.

But if there was to be something nearer, the area off Texas would probably be the best candidate right now if it sits for awhile.

So much rain out there in the Gulf, yet entire towns are burning in California. It's hard to imagine a fire growing from about nothing to over sixty square miles in about ten hours.
