TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK NWS NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL 800 AM EDT WED SEP 16 2015
For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:
1. Showers and thunderstorms have continued to become better organized during the past few hours in association with a low pressure system located about midway between the Cape Verde Islands and the Lesser Antilles. If these trends continue, a tropical depression could form later this morning before upper-level winds become less conducive for development by tomorrow. This system is expected to move north-northwestward to northwestward over the central Atlantic at about 10 mph for the next several days. * Formation chance through 48 hours...high...90 percent * Formation chance through 5 days...high...90 percent
2. A broad area of low pressure located about 350 miles southwest of the southernmost Cape Verde Islands continues to produce disorganized shower activity. Environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for the formation of a tropical depression over the next few days while the system moves west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph. * Formation chance through 48 hours...high...70 percent * Formation chance through 5 days...high...80 percent
