Beyond the Bahamas though, there will be time to make final preparations along the U.S. east coast. Depending on the angle, there might be a lot of people who have to make preparations, but people will have a good idea I think that it is heading there way or not. (making landfall or staying offshore) People should have a couple days, with the current forecast timing, to make final preparations once it starts heading northward. (It would be a good idea to have basic preparations in place of course: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/prepare/ready.php)

The time it is spending in the Bahamas is just very confusing I think to the models. When it finally moves northward is very important. There would be different conditions to the north if it started the move to the north sooner or later. But once it started moving that way, I think it would be a lot clearer. There wouldn't be confusion about if it might spend a shorter or longer time in the Bahamas allowing things to the north of it to change in a way that could have a lot of impact on its track.

At least people in the U.S. (and Bermuda, because anything could still happen) should be aware that it is out there by now. And they might have at least three days from now to make final preparations.
