| I would be surprised if Long Island is not currently undergoing Cat 2 gusts, possibly even Cat 2 sustained with Cat 3 gusts right now. Islands I would be most concerned about, though, are Rum Cay and San Salvador. They seem to be primed for direct hits the way things are shaping up. I hope they somehow were able to get fully prepared on short notice in adverse conditions. This thing really revved up in a hurry and I think it surprised the weather establishment to an extent here in the U.S. with its rapid intensification in spite of wind shear. |
