Here's the pertinent part of the 5 a.m. discussion allowing that Joaquin now may pass directly "over" Bermuda:

"Joaquin is forecast to remain a strong hurricane while it passes near or over Bermuda later
today."

Below is the forecast cone graphic that came out with that discussion. How does that make sense to NHC? I find it utterly baffling and potentially even dangerous. If NHC now concedes the storm may pass directly "over" Bermuda, it surely would not hurt anything--and only could help folks in Bermuda more clearly understand what they may be up against today--for the forecast cone itself to more accurately depict that potential outcome.
