Also worth noting from the discussion tonight:

"It is noted that none the guidance ever indicated the rapid strengthening of Matthew."

This is the intensity forecast from the models 24 hours ago:

None of the models forecast the storm to be over 100 knots within 24 hours and most were not even close. The GFDL forecast a peak of 90 knots in the 24 hour period and the HWRF a peak of 73 knots.

Even the most ambitious models at times weren't even close.
