Yep! The CDO recovered too quickly today for the eye's brief disappearance to have been attributed to wind shear IMO. To me this looks to have been an ERC, especially now that we are seeing the eye clear out again. This storm is defying precedent in several ways now--rapid intensification while undergoing up to 25kts of shear, models completely failing to foresee such rapid deepening, and now the thing is trying to do an equally unforeseen loop-de-loop that, as Target says, may put the models in a tailspin on forthcoming runs. A strange bird, this one.
