Satellite presentation currently looks less impressive to me. I think 11 a.m. will show a weaker 'cane, and I don't think it's EWRC this time. Shear may finally be sinking its teeth in. Unfortunately for Jamaica I am afraid we'll see a surge that exceeds the strength of the storm at time of landfall like we see with intense 'canes like Katrina, which actually was Cat 3 at landfall but brought Cat 5-like surge ashore. And as Bob Henson mentioned on Twitter, we may see a terrible human tragedy unfold in Haiti where the rainfall may be biblical. More concerned about surge and rain than I am about wind at this point, especially considering the kind of absurdly narrow radius within which peak winds, and even hurricane-force winds, exist in this strange storm.
