ssherripat....I agree that Gov. Haley is acting properly in this situation. It does take time....much time to get people out of harms way with a hurricane approaching.
Hurricane Matthew brings back vivid memories of Hurricane Floyd in 1999. My wife and daughter evacuated to near Atlanta, Ga. after hotel rooms had filled in Columbia, SC and beyond. I was sitting in the lobby of a Hampton Inn in Madison, Ga.....people filing in wanting a room....all were being directed to either Birmingham, Ala. or Chattanooga, TN.
Travel time was a nightmare from the time we left Myrtle Beach until we arrived in Madison. The lanes on I-26 from Charleston to Columbia were not reversed despite pleas from local officials.
Kudos to Gov. Haley thus far. |
