Good and bad information on wind damage deductibles...

Apparently, because VA and parts of NC were NOT under a Hurricane Watch or Warning during the time that a lot of wind damage was done, the thousands in 'hurricane deductible' amounts may not need to be paid by individual claimants. That is good for home owners, but awful for the insurance companies (ie...higher rates eventually for all).

This is another consequence of no warnings that I have not thought about.

The bad news is that in NC and VA there are thousands that had significant flooding that were not necessarily in a high flood risk zone...so...hence, no flood insurance to cover losses. Many are getting some very bad news when they call their insurance companies.
