I wouldn't want to rush to be first. Current manned travel to the ISS and previous shuttle missions usually had contingency plans. I think we need a lot of practice before sending people around the moon again. It would also be a good idea if there was a way to possibly rescue someone if needed, with a second launch vehicle ready to go, though in a lot of cases that would probably not be an option.

Musk has some out there ideas sometimes, but obviously he does sometimes follow through. I don't know about the timetable. I don't think they should anger NASA too much. This is a delicate time and they could eventually lose their NASA contract.
