At least one person was confirmed to have died in a house fire.

The 8 fatalities might come from Port Aransas mayor speaking here:

He said he got that from the Aransas County EOC center I believe he says, in the Rockport and Aransas (Pass?) area. Hard to hear that part. But I don't see it reported elsewhere yet.
