This has been bantered about endlessly on The Weather Channel. I have always looked to certain models for intensity and others from track. Much like the two shown here.
Composites, if you are willing to do the data gathering, graphics work etc can often yield some very detailed and helpful information that the spags do not.
That said, I am waiting for all the model runs 48+ hours from now...because I'm in Charleston, SC and planning on being in Aiken,SC or Augusta, GA when Irma passes. I just do not want my family between the Eye and the Coastline IF Charleston takes it on the chin. Staying in a comfortable hotel with room service and a bar/pool bar is far better than setting in my busted house without power for days on end.....
