Right, Irma is going to have to conduct some pretty significant repair to her core now for those very warm waters ahead of her to be of any relevance. I will say Irma has demonstrated that she is capable of that, so it is possible she does regain at least some intensity on her way into FL. But we may be talking about Cat 3 at landfall versus borderline Cat 5. Some people think that is splitting hairs. It is not. Huge difference. Question nonetheless is, how significant a storm surge did Irma build up at greater intensity, how much of that has survived her trip to Cuba, and how fast a wind field will she have in the SE GOMEX. All important questions as we try to get a handle on what degree of storm surge the west coast could see.
