She's not going to get ripped apart when only half of her is over land. Yeah, she's weakening but half the storm is still in very warm water. I do think it will gradually weaken...maybe 5mph every couple hours....but as soon as it clears it has a window of opportunity for about 6-12 hours to really ramp back up before the trough gets a hold of her and pulls her more NNW. I don't see it strengthening much once it starts moving fast NNW after it hits the Keys.
I think when all is said and done, this thing will end up around Sarasota or St. Pete area with about 115mph winds...still a major 'cane. That's my prediction, although I'm not really good at that kind of stuff. |
