Thank you for answering me with good info.Very helpful..They live on the third floor of an apartment buidling, near the center of the complex. with other apartments around them. I am not  in an evacuation or flood zone.

My home was built 12 years ago to withstand Cat 3 winds construction. Even on inspection the inspector told me that he was surprised at it's construction and that it was built extremely well
.
I have Dade county approved window panels up on my windows and patio doors now.
Yes, we are prepared for power outages, have lots of water and food as well as tubs filled, just in case. Also I am on JEA water so if nothing else we can at least flush toilets and take  spit baths.

But.... I am at this point more concerned about them being on the road, now that the rain bans have started to come through. They have water and provisions to last as we had thought at one time we might would evacuate there...but then the forcast changed. Tried to get them here yesterday.. but due to work obligations  they were unable to leave early. So agree that the "getting here" would be more dangerous now than even if they had left early this am.

Thanks alligatorob for the info.
