I wanted to post this on this thread for ricksterpr.

Sadly, this storm is like a buzz saw right now, like Charley or Andrew. (now more like Andrew) If it goes through an eyewall replacement cycle, which it has plenty of time to do, the core of strongest winds will expand. Harvey and Irma went through that and didn't weaken briefly like many storms do. So it might just mean the entire island is even more covered by the potentially catastrophic wind.

One thing to note, in addition to surge and wind, is the rain. Be sure to stay safe in that regard too. I don't know where you are, but isolated amounts of 25 inches are possible in Puerto Rico. "Rainfall on all of these islands could cause life-threatening flash floods and mudslides."
