Recon was spotty on this storm, so I imagine there will be later revision to best track data. Best track data will eventually be the official record. (usually every 6 hours at 0Z, 6Z, 12Z, and 18Z)

They have already adjusted the data.

----------------------

Best track data, subject to revision:

September 16th, 06Z: 30 knot disturbance
September 16th, 12Z: 40 knot tropical storm (first time it was tropical storm) ... Note: This was initially 30 kts, has been updated
September 17th, 12Z: 60 knot tropical storm (last time it was tropical storm) ... Note: This was initially 55 kts, has been updated
September 19th, 00Z: 140 knot category 5 hurricane

From: http://ftp.nhc.noaa.gov/atcf/btk/bal152017.dat

Best track data, subject to revision...

66 hours from disturbance to category 5 hurricane based on best track data.
60 hours from initially a tropical storm to category 5 hurricane based on best track data.
36 hours from last time it was a tropical storm to category 5 hurricane based on best track data.

----------------------

From advisory data:
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/archive/2017/MARIA.shtml

Advisory data is at non standard times. While advisory data has it at 53 hours, 45 minutes from disturbance to category 5 hurricane, the best track data has already been updated to make it stronger earlier than when the NHC initially upgraded it in advisory data.
