Good Example of doorwall design pressure (DP)

A Design Pressure rating of 30 is teated for structual integrity for 10 seconds in both directions with a wind speed up to 132 MPH. DP 40 is tested up to 155 MPH. DP 50 is tested up to 173 MPH. The higher the DP rating the higher the water resistance as well. In Florida, all coastal new construction and replacement windows and doorwalls require a DP of 50 or greater. However, this is only one part of the code.. The other part is that while a glazing may be a DP50, it doesn't  automatically make it impact resistant. In other words, a window or doorwall that is a DP50, but not impact glass, will still be required to have some type of shutter per State of Florida Building Code. (the Large Missile Impact Test)
