You just kinda feel this is the year of a Mitch, an Opal, a Wilma....a year where the Caribbean is going to produce an October major hurricane. Seems to happen once every 3-4 years. It's just been the way the year has gone. I've always said here in Tampa Bay, if a major hurricane is ever going to hit, it's most likely to hit in October. That's when the area is most vulnerable. Troughs dig down deeper and tend to push storms from the Caribbean more N and NE towards the west coast of Florida or the NE Gulf Coast. So we'll see what the next week has to offer. |
