"NOAA42: The P3 is tasked to perform a pre-storm ocean survey mission in the Gulf of Mexico. Take off is scheduled for 10:00 AM ET (1400 UTC) from Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Lakeland, FL. One HRD scientist will be on this flight."
It will not fly into the storm.
"G-IV: The jet is tasked by NHC to fly a synoptic surveillance mission around Tropical Depression 16. Take off is scheduled for 1:30 PM ET (1730 UTC) from Lakeland, FL. No HRDers will be on this flight."
Hopefully there are no problems with the aircraft this time. I would love to have this data into the models late tonight.
Air Force departs at 4:35pm EDT and might arrive at the center around 7:30pm EDT if over water.
