|Stevemc12, there's a non-mandatory county evac order in place as of late Fri. afternoon, due solely to the NHC's predicted 4 - 6 ft. storm surge -- but not a whole lot of people are heeding it, at least not yet. All the major island hotels and restaurants are remaining open -- with all those guest vehicles on mostly open, ground level parking lots, so it's hard to believe the county is all that worried about surge. A few indoor events are still planning to go on. Utility company has no plans to shut off water unless the storm significantly strengthens. |
We are proceeding with buttoning up, but will also be checking the 'cane's status regularly in the a.m., as R.I. will likely change our minds. We need to decide before 3 p.m. to let hotel know if canceling, and so we have time to throw together some clothes and non-perishables and go, if it comes to that.
This is a pretty stressful situation, and frankly, though I appreciate the info, I also have to say you guys are scaring the bejeezus out of me.
