Re: the flu put my 93 yr old mother in the hospital for 2 wks

My great aunt who was in the ICU is now out and at a rehabilitation center. I don't think she had ever gotten a flu shot. I assume if some people have not by that age, they wrongly think they don't need it. Vaccines and immunizations are really important. Unfortunately a lot of people see some things that try to tell them otherwise. My dad was insistent that my grandmother, who is 95, get a flu shot months ago when she went to the doctor. We were not going to have my grandmother visit her sister unless things had got worse, which they did for a bit, so my aunt took my grandmother to see her and had my grandmother wear a mask and make sure she disinfected her hands.

People don't think about how the flu vaccine can help protect other people too. If less people get it, you can have less people spreading it. Unfortunately this year's particular shot is even less effective than they thought, but it's still worth getting it and doing so every year.
