Re: there seems to be more issues everyday

I'm not sure what format it is in, but if it can be exported to a file you could use a USB flash drive to transfer it onto that and then onto your computer. You would want to shut off the internet connection first, so it might mean turning off your router in your home so the laptop doesn't connect via WiFi. Once on the computer, disable WiFi, Bluetooth and the Ethernet connection if it has one of those ports so you don't have to temporarily disable your router in the future.

Or delete everything personal on the old computer, including uninstalling browsers, and then update the database online. If there is nothing personal to steal on the computer, you don't have to worry as much about going online. Before entering any password on the older computer though, change them to something else on the newer computer that isn't a password you'll ever use again. Then login to what you need to on the older computer using the password you will only use once. Then when done immediately change the password on the newer computer back to what you want. It does risk revealing your username or email address doing that.

I wasn't aware about the most recent Chrome issue. I just forced the manual update on my browser as it hasn't happened automatically yet and it's on the latest version now.

You would think over time these security issues would be less and less, but software vendors find news ways to do things insecurely. They keep making various changes that create new security issues when the main focus should be on making things more secure. At this point most everyone in America has probably had their information stolen. It's just that criminals have so much to pick from that most people haven't had them do anything with their data yet. And those are breaches on the companies end where ordinary people are helpless to stop. Some businesses you can't even not use, like Equifax for example.

When Windows 7 no longer has security updates get ready for some issues. Businesses held on to XP for as long as they could. I bet a lot of companies still use it. Because Windows 8 went so badly, even 8.1, there's a lot of businesses that could have went from 7 to 8, and eventually Windows 10, that didn't. There's going to be a lot of security issues when those companies that have Windows 7 simply don't update by January. And there will be many.

Did you happen to see John Oliver's piece on voting machines on Sunday? I won't link to it because his around 20 minute videos usually have language some people might not like, as well as gets into politics a lot, but he'll make you care about things you never knew you needed to care about. Search for "John Oliver voting machines" on YouTube or Google. There was a piece from three weeks ago that I really thought about posting here. Search for "John Oliver weather" and you'll learn about AccuWeather. I never knew the full extent of it until I watched.
