I don't recall hearing about the power being out for so long there after Ike. Usually the media moves on rather quickly after these storms. I can't imagine being without power for so long. I'm sorry you had to deal with what you did after the storm as a result of the economy. That article is so sad. I'm sure it's still probably like that after every storm. Maybe its better overall, but there is obviously an amount of people that just get left out of the help. I think people have experienced issues like that during the wildfires too. Even for storms around here where people have been unlucky, either with flooding or a tree down in their house for example, I hear on the news sometimes about the issues they still face years later, from insurance companies and other red tape for example. But those have been more minor events overall so that there can be more response, at least I hope, in the immediate aftermath. Can't imagine what its like after a major disaster where everyone needs help and the inequality in the help that does arrive.
