Re: Since when does AccuWeather make their own forecast and cone for storms?

Some people, for some reason, think getting rid of the National Weather Service is a good idea. And AccuWeather has been all for that, because they want to be that replacement.
To get rid of a government agency that is not in it for the money, and replace it with a for profit company that is all about the money, is a terrible idea. They can put out whatever content they want, I just want them to be extremely clear, all the time, that it's not the official NHC forecast.
Their tweet was too misleading. I don't know if they do that for something around land or not, but that would be extremely misleading at a time when things should not be misleading.
And just so it's clear, AccuWeather put this out as their own forecast before the NHC forecast a category 5. The wind categories, and path, were created by AccuWeather.
As an example, that I just noticed, "Eye Path" has a ® symbol next to it. Really? Did they officially register that? Everyone always talks about how you shouldn't focus on the center point of the storm alone, a storm is not a point. It's effects extend well beyond. But they actually wanted "Eye Path" trademarked and reserved just for them? That's what a corporate entity that's thinking about the money does. Should the NHC officially trademark "Forecast Cone" maybe to compete? Lol. |
