An administrator can enter their exact coordinates if they pull up their account in the administrative section. Just use the format exactly how it appears in the text box. But members can only use the map to choose their coordinates.
The coordinates members select on the Google Map are purposefully altered slightly. Due to privacy, I randomly add or subtract a small amount from the lat and lon so that a member cannot add the exact location of their house. Some might not mind having their exact location, but I didn't want someone to find their house and then select that exact spot and then submit it publicly without thinking about the consequences of adding their exact location. For example, if someone goes on vacation and notes that on the board, anyone in the world would know where your house was.
I could make the randomization smaller, but it is already rather small. If anyone ends up just off the coast, they can edit their coordinates again until they end up on land. |
