Of course a strengthening El Nino is associated with lower hurricane frequency in the Atlantic Basin. Never hurts to remind people though that even if numbers are lower than normal this year (and thats still a big if), it only takes one, and there have been powerful hurricanes which have made landfall along the US Coast in El Nino, or lower frequency years.
