Real good summary of the storm. Interesting points. 1. Ike was actually bigger than Carla, one of the well known giant storms of the past (although not as intense). 2. Page 11 storm inundation shows the large amount of both the Texas and La coastlines inundated by Ike. 3. The large error in the official 4 day forecast for both Ike and Rita (of 2005). Each one of those storms struck hundreds of miles further north and east than was anticipated in the 4 day forecasts. I remember the fierce winds which lasted for many hours here in SW La as the center of Ike made landfall a couple of hundred miles to our east her in the Lafayette-Vermillion Parish area of La. |
