I live right on a canal just off the bay, so fresh water is not a threat to my house. Although, the water level in the street was about the highest it has ever been. The water could not get into the storm drains fast enough so the street was very flooded, but nowhere near the houses. Only some minor soil and mulch erosion.
We got almost 5 inches so far today. But the street flooded this morning when a big rain came in a short amount of time. 0.98 inches one hour followed by a whopping 2.41 inches the next hour.
Elsewhere in the region there have been a few homes threatened by water, but most of the problems people have had are with them thinking their car is the one that will make it through the flooded street okay.
Here are some photos of some flooded areas from TBO.com: http://v.tbo.com/ChannelGallery.aspx?c=1066 Look at all the crazy people driving into the flooding.
There are some rivers that are over flood stage, but I have not heard of any expected problems.
Overall we need all the rain. This region needed to have the aquifers, rivers, and reservoirs see some rain. At least we got the rain without the wind. The front / 93L remnants could have had a much different outcome. |
