Being a little facetious here, but as storms go, that list from '97, and our current '09 names are basically a bunch of non-achievers. I guess thats good, right. Claudette and Danny have reached minimal status in the past, but never enough to be retired. And we've seen these names over and over. In this day and age, you really have to be a sort of non-event not to be retired. Ana, Bill, am I missing something with Grace? You have to be in to tracking these things to even remember some of these storm names from the past. Lets see, '09, and before that '03, and earlier '97, '91, '85, I'm sure some of these names have been recycled since then. Perhaps '79, that was a big year for storms. I guess some of the original names like David, and Frederick were retired off that list. But since then, not much for this cycle of name. I'm sure there must be one or two others that were retired from this cycle, but they don't immediately come to mind. According to Mike, we should expect an average year at best, tending to way below average. That would fit right in with this cycle if it comes to pass. |
