The Atlantic basin is special & unique in regards to global warming. I expect there will be some fireworks between aug 15 & oct 15 when you consider that 69% of years starting after Aug 1st have major landfalling hurricanes with the majority of them hitting west of 72 longitude. I would'nt read too much into the global ACE considering it's been that way for a while while the Atlantic has been busy.
