What I mean is this. I believe Gray's last forecast for '09 called for four hurricanes, with two of them being major. That shows maybe a somewhat below normal year. (With normal being six hurricanes). And actually, the major hurricane forecast is just about on average (calling for two). I tend to agree with this forecast, somewhat below normal, but not radically below normal. However, a season with four hurricanes might seem very slow after the many active years which we have seen lately. And even having only two majors might seem somewhat below normal too, when it really isn't. |
