I'm not surprised - given the weather picture along the coast today: hundreds of miles of coastal thunderstorms as a dying cold front met up with the sea breeze front.
You may have had some sort of "training" event similar to what we had the first week of July when we had a terrible flood here (many first floor apartments are still empty all around, in many complexes in this area.)
Better the streets flood than apartments!
And yes, isn't it weird how sometimes it looks as if a "windless hurricane" has passed through?
Hope you suffered no personal damage.
