None of this is good news for the US

1. The slow start of the season. As if we could tell a whole lot from that. And total numbers may still be somewhat down for the season as a whole (but that remains to be seen).
2. No coorelation between numbers and US landfalls. Some of our "most major" landfalling storms have occured in "slow" seasons. See 1900,1919,1992.
3. Storms that seem to "fade in and out". Upgraded then weaken, perhaps more than once. Not good, not good at all. Usually allows for a more west track. Persistence is the key. And once these storms reach depression or weak tropical storm strength, they have to be dealt with. Its best if they just move out to see. But the weaker phases tend to allow for a more westerly move toward the US.
4. Present-day systems are generally moving west. Some kind of rendezvous between one or more of these systems and the US Coast is becoming more likely now. And it may not be pretty.
