Beaumont tornado?

the rest of my family is "school breaking" down in Galveston the last couple days & I just heard on TWC there may have been a tornado down in Beaumont? http://www.examiner.com/x-19138-Dallas-Headlines-Examiner~y2009m8d18-Beaumont-tornado-collapses-roof-sends-several-to-hospital
They said skies looked ugly on the beach for a while today, but I guess this storm just popped out of nowhere???
