I can't speak for Canada's peculiarities but the New Moon just passed so there's no problem with astronomical tides (which are weakest in summer anyway.)

The odd tides along the East Coast you spoke of faded away some time ago.

So, other than special, local features, tides should be of no great concern - other than the normal summer high tide being a few feet higher than low tide.
