I agree, in my layman analysis.  Sheer right to the West is relaxing, while further down increasing, but from 5-10 knots.  As Erika builds an Upper Level High, she may be very much able to survive any shear, and maybe gather strengh.  

Steering "flowise", I think that she will start taking a WNW turn tonight into Puerto Rico!!!
