This is all I could find for now.
The update from Joint Typhoon Warning Center and NAVY NRL shows a dramatic decrease from the previous report: Winds 75 knots, gusting to 90 knots (Conversion: 86 mph- 109 mph)
As Typhoon Melor makes landfall around the Kii Penninsula in western Japan, a total of 500 flights were cancelled between Wednesday and Thursday. Toyota Motor Corp shut down production in all of it's 12 Japanese plants because of the storm. Japan Energy Corp, the nation's sixth-biggest oil refiner, said it would halt overland oil shipments from its Mizushima refinery in western Japan during the night hours. Nansei Sekiyu KK's refinery in Okinawa said high seas were delaying some ships.
Ocean waves were 30 feet high, and an expected storm surge of 4-6 feet is forecast with this strength storm, but can be higher due to the wave memory of when this was much more powerful.
